An immersive evening of poetry, images, and music in which Palestinian poet Doha Kahlout traces her displacement from Gaza, joined by Isabella Hammad, Bashar Murad, and translator Yasmine Haj.

From Gaza, A Poetic and Visual Testimony presents Palestinian poet and Displaced Artist-in-Residence Doha Kahlout as she reflects on her experience of displacement within and beyond Gaza through an evocative blend of poetry, photography, and sound. Reading in Arabic, Kahlout will be accompanied by novelist Isabella Hammad, who will present Yasmine Haj’s English translations. The evening also features the work of Palestinian pop artist Bashar Murad, whose music addresses themes of identity, resistance, and life under occupation. Co-sponsored by the Columbia Global Paris Center and the Institute for Ideas and Imagination, this program is part of the Reid Hall Displaced Artists Initiative, which supports artists who have been forced to leave their home countries due to conflict, disaster, or political repression.
